There looks to be a really cheap fare from Montreal to Liberia, Costa Rica (LIR) leaving on New Year's Eve.
Try searching for Dec 31 to Jan 18 from YUL to LIR on Kayak...

The price verifies on Orbitz, and is over 55% cheaper than the next cheapest flights on the major airlines.
There's also some pretty cheap ones on Sunwing to Liberia (LIR) at the moment. Try December 12-19 or December 19-26 on Sunwing.ca to find flights for $415 roundtrip after taxes.

There are flights in February from Burlington (BTV) to Belize (BZE) that are perhaps cheap enough to warrant the drive from Montreal. It's nearly 45% cheaper than flying from YUL.

Update @ 5:23 PM : Delta seems to have caught on and the price is now back up unfortunately. There were reports that the reverse was working for a while as well (out of a Canadian city, back into a U.S. city). Could still be worth trying.
